FAQ

Connecting an AI agent to PostStream. For step-by-step setup, see Connect an agent.

Do I need a paid plan to connect an agent?
Yes — creating a token or using one-click Connect needs an active PostStream subscription. Beta testers can be added to a whitelist by an admin instead, which unlocks the same thing without a subscription.
Is my data safe? Does the agent get my social passwords?
No. Your social accounts connect through each platform's own login — PostStream never sees or stores those passwords, and neither does the agent. The agent only ever talks to PostStream, using a token scoped to the permissions you granted.
Can the agent post to my social accounts without me approving it?
It can create and schedule posts, but publishing still goes through PostStream's normal flow — nothing goes live without your approval, exactly as if you'd scheduled it yourself.
How do I disconnect an agent?
In Settings → AI agents: Revoke a pasted token, or Disconnect a one-click (OAuth) agent. Either takes effect on that agent's next request.
Pasted token or one-click Connect — which should I use?
One-click Connect (OAuth) if your client supports adding a server by URL — there's no secret to copy or store, and it's easy to revoke. Pasted token for Claude Desktop and Cursor, which expect a token in their config file.
Can I use this from a script or CI instead of a chat app?
Yes. Any MCP client works, and the hosted HTTP endpoint accepts an Authorization: Bearer psk_live_… header. Give that token only the scopes the script needs (e.g. posts:read).
Which agents and clients are supported?
Claude Desktop and Cursor via the npx config; any client that supports remote MCP servers by URL (with a pasted token or the OAuth Connect flow). Claude in a browser and the mobile apps don't support MCP yet.
What happens to my tokens if my subscription lapses?
They stop working — every agent request re-checks your subscription. Re-subscribe (or get whitelisted) and the same tokens work again; you don't need to recreate them.
Does connecting an agent cost extra?
No. It's included with any active plan. You're billed by connected-account tier, the same as the rest of PostStream — the agent doesn't change that.
